It was another beautiful day in America, the land of the free, and our amazing friend Dexter the declaration of independence decided he wanted to go for a swim on this beautiful day! However as he began to swim he was taken in a hurricane to an island where there was no government!

What A nice day for a swim!

Dexter looked for anyone,  but couldn't find anyone. So, he took it upon himself to take care of this island and make sure that it could have a just government to help them prosper and find liberty. First, he had to come up with a name and although the first few were awful BUT eventually he came up with the beautiful name of EAGLE-LAND. Then he decided to go back through the constitution to see how to make one for this beautiful island.

I will call it... EAGLE-LAND

First, he decided to look at article 1 to get a good starting point. Which was the article that started our legislative branch! He discovered that this was the branch that made our laws and that it was separated into 2 houses which are the house of representatives and the Senate!

It's perfect!!

Then he looked at the 2nd article where he discovered that it gave the president the power they had and that it was also the branch that enforced laws made by the legislative branch!

Then lastly, he looked at the 3rd article of our constitution and found that it made our judicial branch which was made up of the courts of America, like the supreme court! This also showed the separation of powers to him with every branch having even power spread among them! They also have judicial review to declare something as constitutional or unconstitutional and the power to veto a law that is unconstitutional!

Everything will be fair!!

But then, he realized he needed to choose the term lengths and requirements of his office officials. Then he started listing the ones he knew from America's great government! First one was for presidential candidates. He decided to give the president a 4 year term and required candidates to be 35 and a resident of their country for at least 15 years!

No KINGS!!!! Only 4 years!!!!!

Next he, thought about the senate. He gave them a 6 year term and he also made sure they were above 30, live in the country and take an oath for the country!

Then he finally decided the requirements for the house of representatives! He gave them terms of 2 years and made it so representatives had to be 25 and live in the state they want to represent.

After doing all that, he decided to make a constitution for his island! He started listing off amendments he knew

   - 1st amendment was the right to speak his mind and to believe in whatever he wanted

    - 2nd amendment gave the people the right to keep their weapons to keep themselves safe!

    - 3rd amendment meant you didn't have to bring a soldier into your house!

    - 4th amendment protects you from the police being able to just search you

    - 5th amendment gave you the right to a fair trial!

You can't stay here!!

- 6th amendment makes sure that you have a fast trial with a lawyer no matter what!

- 7th amendment allows other people judge you other than a judge.

- 8th amendment made sure that you weren't being unfairly punished
