what you see before you is our solar system! This solar system has not only our home planet of earth, not only 7 other planets, but at the very center a star that allows all life to exist on earth.

A solar system is a star and its celestial bodies that surround it, held together by a force called gravity.

There are 8 planets within our solar system all revolving around the sun.

The sun is a star that burns at 10,000 degrees fahrenheit. It is through the light and heat the sun produces that all life can exist on earth.

The closest planet to the sun is called Mercury. Mercury is both extremely hot and extremely cold due to its relation to the sun. During the day it is extremely hot but at night it is freezing cold. Mercury is also ⅓ the size of Earth.

After Mercury is Venus. Even though Venus is the second planet from the sun it is the hottest in our solar system. Venus can reach surface temperatures of 872 degrees fahrenheit.

The 3rd planet from the sun may be quite familiar to you. Earth is the only planet with all the conditions to have human life.

Mars is not only the next planet after Earth but it is also the most like Earth. Although humans currently only live on Earth there is effort being put forward to try and make Mars able to support life.
