Deep in a cave, a big brown bear yawned and stretched. He had eaten berries and honey all summer long, and now his belly was round and full.
- It's time,he said, and curled up in his den. Soon, he was fast asleep — and he wouldn't wake up until spring.
ANDREI CRISTINA, ROMANIA
GREECE
Outside the bear’s den, a little tortoise watched the golden leaves fall. “Winter is coming. I need a sheltered place too,” she whispered. She found a quiet spot beneath the roots of an old tree, where the soil was soft and covered with dry leaves. She nestled into the earth, ready to rest through the cold winter days. Just then, a rustling sound came from behind the tree…
ITALY
"It was the prickly hedgehog, who was also preparing his own shelter on the other side of the tree; they wished each other a good hibernation and settled down to rest. But before closing his eyes, the hedgehog looked around and was enchanted to see that all the animals were almost ready for their long hibernation; his attention caught on..."

BULGARIA
His attention was caught by the badger, who was also looking for a home for the winter. He found a cozy little spot under the roots of an old tree, cleared away the fallen leaves, and covered the ground with soft grass. The hedgehog wished him sweet dreams, and the badger thanked him before curling up in his new home. Soon, the forest grew quiet, and all the animals settled down for their long winter sleep as the first snowflakes gently began to fall outside.
Ivelina Dimanova, Bulgaria
Outside, the autumn wind danced through the golden leaves. The bear took one last look at the forest before settling down in his cozy den. He covered himself with soft leaves and listened to the gentle sound of the wind. Soon, snow would cover the trees and the forest paths. The little bear's winter dreams had begun!
