Hi students! This is Daisy, our class flower! Daisy is a type of plant! Today, she is going to teach us about how she grows in different conditions!

Let's get started!

The first thing I need to grow is soil. Soil helps my roots stay in place and helps deliver nutrients to my body! Without soil, I won't be able to stay healthy and strong, and my roots don't have anything to hold on to.

The next thing I need to grow is water! Water helps me carry nutrients from my roots to my leaves and stem!

After water, I need sunlight to grow. Without sunlight, plants cannot make their own food. Plants go through photosynthesis, which is how we make our food!

I also need air to grow! Air provides me with oxygen and carbon dioxide, and those two gases help me with photosynthesis and cellular respiration!

Cellular Respiration is how plants break down food for energy to grow!

So, not that we know what I need to grow, let's explore what would happen to me when I don't have those different things!

If I don't have sunlight, I can't make food for myself through photosynthesis! I would lose all of my energy, and won't be able to grow.
