Great White sharks live in all coastal
temperature waters around the world.

They are blue-gray on the top part of their
bodies. This helps them blend in with the
bottom of the ocean when viewed from above.

Sharks are carnivorous or meat eaters.

They live on a diet of fish and sea mammals.
Sharks even eat other sharks!

Although Great White sharks are not killed by
any other animal in the ocean. They are
endangered.

Humans have killed a large number of White
sharks to get their teeth, jaws and fins for
money.

Sharks have gills on each side of their
body. As they move through the water it
provides them shark with oxygen.

People are fascinated by these sharks. Some
even go cage diving and see them in their
natural habitat.

Inside a Great Whites mouth you can
find hundreds of teeth.

There is even a movie about the Great
White shark called Jaws.

A Great White shark can swim at speeds of
around 56.3 kilometers per hour.

The Great White shark is one of the largest
sharks in the world.

Mature Great White sharks can grow up to
21 feet in length.

Great Whites do not have a single bone in
their bodies. They have cartilage, which is
lighter and helps them move faster through
water.

The nostrils of a Great White shark are
used solely for olfactory purposes, to
sniff out their prey.

A pup, baby shark, is born ready to
take care of itself. The mother shark
leaves the pup who usually makes a fast
get away before the mother tries to eat
it!


Great Whites are quick swimmers.

Sharks do not chew their food. The
sharks teeth rip their prey into mouth-
sized pieces and are swallowed whole.

Great White sharks are also called White
Pointers because of their pointed snout.

Their teeth are triangular, razor-sharp
and up to 3 inches long.

Great White sharks have a unique sixth sense
called electric field. They use this sense to
find food.

Violent shark attacks have been
reported on numerous occasions.
