Once upon a time in a faraway land, there
lived King and Queen Titan who had a
beautiful daughter named Marigold. Prior to
her birth she, like many princesses before
her, was betrothed to a prince who lived in a
neighboring land.

When the princess became of age to marry, she
begged her mother and father not to force her
to marry a man she has never met. Her mother
tried to explain this is a tradition and nothing
can be done to break it.
The night before her wedding, the princess ran
away. She ran deep into the forest. She ran until
her legs would not let her run anymore. She
came to a bridge where she collapsed from
exhaustion.

She laid on the bridge weeping until she heard a
voice.
“Get off my bridge” the grumpy voice said.
The princess jumped up and searched for the
voice but saw no one.
The princess called out “Whose there?”
Again the voice said “Get off my bridge.”
The princess agreed to remove herself from the
bridge, only if the voice would appear.
The voice agreed.

From under the bridge a dark shadow
appeared. It walked slowly toward the princess.
The voice was a troll.
His face was covered with warts, his nose was
the size of a football, and his hair was tangled and
stood straight up. He stood about 4 and a half
feet tall. His clothes were dirty and full of holes.
As this troll walked closer he said in a grumpy
voice, “You got a look at me. I am the troll who
lives under this bridge. NOW GET OFF MY
BRIDGE.”

The princess was curious and asked to stay.
The troll asked "Why?"
The princess explained her name is Marigold and
she is the daughter of the Titans. She was running
away because she did not want to marry a man she
did not love.
The trolls’ heart softened and told her she could
stay, only if she agreed to be his friend. The
princess agreed and asked his name. The troll
replied with "George."

While George and Marigold were
becoming good friends, the King and Queen
sent a search party into the woods looking
for their lost princess. The king ordered
the royal guards to search for their lost
princess and do not return without her.
