Porcupines live all throughout the 

world in a variety of habitats, 

including forests, deserts, rocky 

outcrops, and hillsides. Some 

porcupines spend most of their time in 

trees.

Latin words for pig 

and quill

Porcupines have quills as a 

form of self defense to 

protect them from predators

Porcupines are typically solitary 

animals, and live alone more often 

than in groups
