There are a lot of different kinds of art.   There 

is mixed media art, drawing, painting, and 

print making.   Mixed media art means just 

that.   The artist uses more than one media in 

their work.   This might include paint, pencil, 

inks, and collage.   Just to name a few things.

In this piece, the artist used spray inks, 

stencils, paint, and collage to create this 

image.

Art does not always have to have paint, or 

inks. It can be a drawing. This is a drawing of 

a hand. The technique is called blind contour 

drawing. The artist looks only at their hand-

not at the paper-and draws what they see very 

slowly. 

Because the artist doesn't look at the paper, 

the drawing can end up looking kind of funny 

and distorted.

Here is another form of art that has been 

popular in our time.   This kind of art is called 

abstract art.

Abstract art does not resemble anything.   It is 

usually made up of geometric, or natural 

shapes, or a combination of both.   Color is 

then added to the work.   This piece is done in 

both geometric and natural shapes.

Another form of art is cartoon art.   A lot of 

people are very familiar with this kind of art 

because they may read the comics in the paper 

each day, or they may read comic books, or 

watch cartoons or animated feature films on 

television.

Cartoons use a simple style where everything 

is outlined in black line, then colored in with 

paint, colored pencils, markers, or pastels.
