They say never to make a deal with the devil, but
keep in mind, I'm far from evil. They call me the
sea witch. I take it as a compliment; I've always
loved being popular. What mermaids don't realize
about my trade is that the loss of their poor
unfortunate souls is their own fault. Never once do
I lie to them or treat them unjustly.

Lately, I had been focused on the daughter of the
sea king, Ariel. The spoiled little brat had found
herself a new subject of interest. A lovesick
sixteen year old girl, desperately yearning for a
human, Prince Eric, would be perfect for my next
business partner. I would finally be able to take
my position as the rightful ruler of the ocean if all
went well.

So when the king of the sea's daughter finally came
in need of my help, I had the perfect plan. I sent my
trusty pet eels, Flotsam and Jetsam, as spies to keep
me updated. Gazing through my cauldron, I was able
to witness Ariel rescue Eric when his ship
encountered a storm. The obsessed teenager carried
him to a beach, where she sang to him until he woke
up. Prince Eric, consumed with his thoughts of this
mysterious savior, started on his quest to find this
exotic girl with the beautiful voice, as he assumed
she just must be his true love.

I knew that her father would not approve of her
new attraction, and that Ariel would do anything
to rebel against what he said after their argument
on the topic. This was when I had Flotsam and
Jetsam lure her in, and the hopeless girl easily
agreed to my offer of help.

She came oh so quickly, asking for my magic. I told
her how it goes, no sugar coating involved. I could
turn her into a human for three days. However, if she
hadn’t received a kiss from Eric by the third day, that
is true love's kiss of course, her soul was mine! But if
she somehow managed this task, she would get the
reward of staying human forever. She eagerly nodded
in agreement, although her crab companion,
Sebastian, let out shouts of disapproval.

"All you have to pay of course, is your voice" I
informed. She seemed startled but I kept
speaking. “You have your looks to charm him;
you won’t even need it,” I persuaded. “Such a
simple price for a magnificent reward.”

I was delighted when she finally signed the scroll
and her precious voice was right in my hands. I
quickly produced a potion that gave her just what
she wanted. Ariel would be turned into a human
instantly.
"Good luck," I teased as she swam to the surface.

I watched as the Prince guided her around the
castle; Ariel observed things she'd never seen
before with wide eyes. He sat her down to eat
dinner, and she looked around confused,
oblivious as to what was going on. I couldn't
help but let out a laugh as she picked up a fork
and started brushing her hair at the table. If this
was how she was going to act for the next few
days, winning was going to be easy.

The next day I watched as Prince Eric rowed Ariel out
on a rowboat. He listed off names as Ariel shook her
head in disgust at each. Sebastian leaned over to hint
to Eric as to what her name really was. When the two
began leaning in, I knew I had to act quickly.
