It was a hot and humid morning in the jungle; Lellow the Lion lay asleep on the grass.

Lellow the lion was woken up by berries falling from the trees. Lellow the lion began to rub his eyes with his paws. He opened his mouth and yawned.

Lellow the lion looked up to see Mo the monkey juggling several small berries into the air. Lellow eyes began to cross as he watched the berries fall from the highest tree.

Mo, the Monkey and Lellow the Lion watched the berries fall, both sets of eyes fixed on the berries, as the berries fell and hit Lellow the Lion on the end of his nose.

Then, with an angry roar, Lellow the lion jumped up. All the animals began to run and hide and the bird’s wings began to flap as the birds flew from the treetops. The birds were frightened off by Lellow's angry roar.

All the other animals began to scurry around, they were looking for a place to hide between the branches of the trees.

Mo danced up and down between the branches of the trees. Then suddenly, Mo screeched out chattering in his monkey voice. “Got you Lellow!” He said. “Wake up and play with me!” Lellow realised it was his friend Mo who dropped the berries that hit him at the end of his nose and woke him up.

With a lazy growl, Lellow the lion said to Mo the monkey, “It’s too early to play games.” Lellow the lion then laid back down, resting his head on his paws and fell asleep.

All the other animals came out from their hiding places, they were nervously chattering. Even the monkeys came out to play. The monkeys were swinging from the branches with their tails. The birds also began to return to the treetops.

Lellow the lion realised he was not going to get any sleep, because of all the noise coming from the other animals in the jungle.
