Jack Has a Sleepover
Jack is a young blonde hair, blue-eyed boy. He is the pride and joy of
his nanny and papa’s heart. Jack had a very special girl in his life that made
him smile and laugh all the time. Her name was Lillianne. Jack called her
Lily most of the time. It was easy to spell when he would print her name on
valentine cards, birthday cards and the secret little letters they shared as
best friends.

Lillianne did not mind being called Lily. It made her feel so special. Lily
was Jack’s best friend who lived next door. Jack had lots of friends who
lived on his street. The name of his friends was Peyton, James and
Grayson. If Lily was not home Jack would walk to Peyton’s house and ask
for him to come outside and play. Some days Jack would pedal his bike to
James’s house and spend all afternoon popping wheelies and all sorts of
bike tricks.

Grayson was always playing with all the other children on his street.
Brooklynn and Whitney were very important people in Jack’s life. There
was no one as fun and exciting as Jack’s awesome cousins. Brooklynn and
Whitney were twin sisters and they did everything together.
A special day was approaching for Jack. He wanted all his favorite
people to share a birthday celebration. Jack was going to be six years old.

‘How do you want to celebrate your birthday this year Jack? It is a very
special day for you’ nanna and papa asked secretively.
‘’I would like to have a fun sleepover’ Jack replied as he jumped for joy
calling out his wish.
‘I think papa and I can give you the present of a fun sleepover. We will
do our very best to make it special’ nana answered with a big smile.

Jack’s heart was beating with joy. He had always wanted a sleepover
but mommy and daddy felt that he was not old enough to have his friends
over night. Now that Jack is turning six years old mommy and daddy were
now fine with his first sleepover.
The special day was only two weeks away. There was so much to do
and so many activities to plan. Jack could barely sleep at night. All he
could do was daydream of the fun he was going to have.

Oh how the days passed bye. Before Jack knew it, Saturday, August
10, his birthday had arrived. Nana and papa kept very quiet about the
surprise sleepover for Jack. Mommy and daddy prepared his overnight
bag. Mommy hugged him close and kissed him with all the special love
she had since the day he was born.
‘Happy Birthday my handsome little boy. Have a great time and take lots
of pictures. I will see you on Sunday Jack’ mommy replied as she helped
Jack get buckled into his seat.

‘Bye mommy! Let’s go Daddy. Nana and papa are waiting for me. I am
so excited. Yahoo!’ Jack replied with a big happy smile on his face.
Daddy watched the excitement on Jack’s face through the rear view
mirror. He could remember how exciting it felt when he had his first
sleepover when he was young like Jack.
Nana’s house was on the other side of the city. As daddy approached
their house Jack had spotted papa standing on the front porch. He was
waving his hand excitedly.

‘Yes! Yes!’ Jack called out loud.
Once the car had stopped in the driveway and the engine was turned
off Jack quickly unbuckled himself. Jack opened the car door and rushed
up to papa and gave him a huge hug. He almost forgot to get his overnight
bag and say good bye to daddy.
‘Bye daddy. See you tomorrow. Love you!’ Jack spoke with excitement
in his voice.
Nana had the porch decorated with birthday balloons. There was a big
sign hanging over the front door that spelled:

‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACK’
Jack’s eyes were big like saucers.
‘Nana is waiting inside with your first surprise Jack. Go on in’ papa
insisted.
‘SURPRISE!’ shouted the familiar voices.
There in front of Jack stood Lillianne, Peyton, James, Brooklynn,
Grayson, and Whitney. They were all dressed in such nice party clothes
especially for his sleepover. Jack grinned from ear to ear. He had no idea
nanny and papa invited all of his best friends to have fun at his party.

Jack joined his friends in the living-room. They giggled and laughed so
much and shared ideas of what nana and papa had planned for the
evening. Papa went outside to cook hotdogs on the barbeque. Nana
prepared pink lemonade. That was Jack’s favorite drink on very special
occasions. The children sat around the kitchen table eating, laughing and
have such a really fun time.
There was silence for a moment and all of a sudden nana entered the
kitchen with an ice-cream cake. It was decorated with six flickering
candles. The children and papa all joined in and sang the ‘Happy Birthday’
song.

‘Blow out your candles Jack’ the children shouted. ‘Make a wish first’
they continued to call out.
Jack blew out all the candles in one breath. He smiled and felt that his
wish would come true.
‘What’s next?’ Jack asked as he stuffed the cake into his mouth.
‘Well if you all get cleaned up and put on your pajamas I have a very
special surprise for you’ nana replied.
