Dogs come in all different shapes and sizes, just like people! 

There are big breed dogs, and small breed dogs.   A dog breed 

is a group of dogs that looks the same and has similar 

characteristics. For example, there are dogs that have curly fur, 

and dogs with straight fur, or even dogs that have hair!  

There are dogs that like to be inside and dogs that like to be 

outside. The trick is to find a dog that is just right for you.

Will a Dog Make a Good Pet?

You might be wondering if a dog makes a good pet.   They do. 

Here are some reasons why dogs make good pets:

1.   You will never be lonely if you have a dog as a pet. They 

like people, and they will make you smile.

2.   A dog can help keep your house safe by barking and 

scaring away robbers.

3.   You can get extra exercise by playing with and walking 

your dog.

Dog Supplies

There are certain things you need to take good care of a dog 

in your home.   First you need a crate. A crate looks like a 

cage and you can lock it.   It is a dog's special place to sleep, 

sort of like your bedroom is your space. It is where dogs go to 

be safe and to rest. 

To take good care of a dog in your home, you also need: a 

collar and leash, bowls for food and water, food and treats, 

and lots of toys.Toys are really important, because puppies 

need to chew and play. You will need grooming supplies too.  

Grooming is how you care for your dog, by bathing, brushing, 

trimming their nails, and keeping their ears clean.
