You want to see the world.
You're sick of reading about the Great Wall of China in a
textbook, because all you want to do is climb it.
Your mouth waters at the thought of eating couscous in Morocco
and your heart races at the thrill of taking a crazy TucTuc ride in
India.
You're wanderlust,
and broke.
Fear not. When you are finished reading you will have the
knowledge necessary for traveling on a budget.

"Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer"-
Unknown
Traveling is an educational encounter that allows you to
develop a heightened appreciation for a diversity and love for
cultures other than your own. It is a hands on learning
experience that requires you to use all of your senses as you
navigate throughout your destination. You develop skills you
didn't know you had, such as map-reading, communication
without words, or scaling the side of a mountain just to sit at
the peak. If you keep your mind open, you will gain an
invaluable global perspective and understanding of our
interdependent world.

Step 1: How You Get There
When you are traveling on a budget, the initial cost of getting there
can be extremely intimidating. Make sure you scope out a number of
websites to find the best airline deals, and do not rely on your
frequent flier miles! Go for cost not comfort, because airlines such as
Ryanair offer flights throughout Europe for under $20. Don't worry
about renting a car. There are so many other cheaper ways to get
around, such as bikes, mopeds, trains, tuk-tuks, buses, boats, walking,
and more!
Besides saving money, these forms of public transportation will allow
you to talk to locals and immerse yourself into parts of the culture
you may not do if you are secluded in a car. Remember, the point of
travel is to learn about other people and cultures...not just taking a
picture from a car to post on Instagram for likes and hashtags.
