Once upon a time, there lived a porcupine
named Isaac. Isaac was a very curious
porcupine. One day, John came to Isaac and
warned him that the world was going to end.

Isaac decided to go home and think of an idea
of how to save the world.

All of a sudden, a great idea popped into
Isaac's head. He decided to build a catapult to
launch everyone off the face of the Earth. First
he needed to collect twine, sticks, and leaves.

He gathered his friends to help him construct
the catapult.

They begin construction of the catapult right
away.
The friends got to work right away building the
catapult.

It took longer than expected to build the
catapult, but Isaac and his friends
accomplished it. They had 12 hours until the
world was going to end.

He was dreading the next day!

Isaac gathered the neighborhood at 5 A.M. to
begin launching. He hopes his plan goes
smoothly because he has not had time to test
the catapult.

The neighborhood started to wonder how the
catapult would even work so Isaac decided to
explain it to them.

Isaac told the neighborhood that he created 3
laws on how motion works. He named them
Newton's Laws of Motion.

an object in motion stays in motion at
a constant velocity unless acted upon by
an unbalanced force.

Newton's First Law

This means:
*When Isaac pulls the lever down, the lever will
be pushing back up on Isaac with the same
amount of force which creates a balanced
force. When an unbalanced force acts on the
catapult, like pushing down the catapult, it
creates motion.

direction of the
strongest force applied.
Newton's Second Law

This means:
*When the catapult launches someone, the
animal in the catapult will be accelerated in the
direction that the catapult is pushing that
animal.

Newton's Third Law

is an equal and opposite
reaction.

*When you release the catapult launcher, it releases
all of the tension in the rubber bands from when you
pushed down the catapult launcher.

also told them about energy.
