Did you know that Mercury's surface temperature can be -173 to 423C and every seven years or so, mercury can be seen from
Earth. It's named after the roman God Mercury, the messenger
to the gods - this is most likely related to the orbiting speed of
the planet. Mercury has been known to humanity from the
ancient times and a year in mercury is 88 days, yet a mercury
day is 176 Earth days. Mercury orbits so quickly around the sun

Venus was once considered a twin to Earth, as it's roughly thesame size, there's only a 638 km difference in diameter and it's
relatively close to our planet. It takes 243 days to rotate on its axis (the
length of one day) and 225 days to rotate around the sun.
Venus rotates in a counter-clockwise direction which is called a
retrograde rotation, this may have been caused by an asteroid collision.
This theory is supported by a long collision site on the planet. Venus
has no natural satellites and is the second brightest star in the night
sky, after our moon.

You may not think so, but Earth is5,972,190,000,000,000 billion kg and the volcanic
rock known as pumice is the only rock that can
float on water. It was once believed that the Earth
was the centre of the universe as the other planets
seemed to rotate around it.
The Atlantic Ocean is the saltiest major ocean,
plus the rocks at the bottom of the Grand
Canyon are about 2 billion years old.

Mars
Mars is a constant discussion for explorers aroundthe world and there were dozens of spacecrafts
sent there to study it. Mars is the only planet
that's surface can be seen in detail from Earth.
It is reddish in color and named after the bloody
red God of war of the ancient Romans.
Mars is home to the tallest mountain in the solar
system, it's called Olympus Mons and is 21 km high
and 600 km in diameter.

Jupiter 
Named after the Roman king of Gods Jupiteris its name, with a mass of
19,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kg,
it's diameter is 139, 822 km and it would take
11 Earths lined up to be as long a Jupiter
and 317 to equal the mass of this planet.
That's why this goliath of a planet is easily the
biggest planet in our solar system.
Jupiter has an amazing 67 moons with the most
well known being; Europa, Ganymede and
Callisto.
