"Standing on the promises which cannot fail, when the
howling storms of doubt and fear assail, by the living Word of
God I shall prevail, standing on the promises of God."
The words of this classic hymn remind us that during the
trials of life God is there to comfort and calm us. As we focus
on Him it helps us to take our eyes off our circumstances. We
may not understand why bad things happen to us, but we
can be assured that God is ever present, ever in control, and
ever good. Job 37:14,16,22-23 challenges us to "stop and
consider the wondrous works of God. Do you know the
balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is
perfect in knowledge? Behold, God is exhalted in his power;
who is a teacher like him? Who has prescribed for him his
way, or who can say, You have done wrong?" And again in
Isaiah 55:9 we are reminded, "For as the heavens are
higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your
ways,

my thoughts higher than your thoughts." On the very day
of your accident I read this quote:"If you know that God's
hand is in everything, you can leave everything in God's
hands." So true, but this is easier said than done! Try
starting each day with this simple prayer; Father, please
help me to trust in you even when I don't understand why
things happen as they do. Please comfort my heart and
remind me of your goodness and love. Amen

Perhaps you have heard the saying, "what God ordains He
sustains." This is true for all seasons of our life, in both good
times and bad. God goes with us, providing both comfort and
strength. All we need to do is look up. "I lift up my eyes to the
hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from
the LORD, who made heaven and earth." Psalms 121:1-2
Sometimes this help does not come quickly, or in the manner
we think is should, but in Isaiah 41:10 God gives us His
promise of help. "Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed
for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will
uphold you with my righteous right hand." And again in
Isaiah 40:29-31 we read, "He gives power to the faint, and
to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths
shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength.

They shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not
faint." For those with an independent mindset, relying
solely on God and His plan can seem impossible. But God
assures us He is able to provide for ALL our needs! "Fear
not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which
he will work for you today....The LORD will fight for you,
and you have only to be silent." Exodus 14:13-14 An old
hymn of the church says it best:
"What have I to dread, what have I to fear, leaning on the
everlasting arms? I have blessed peace with my Lord so
near, leaning on the everlasting arms."
Lean on God every day and experience His gracious
provision and peace!
