The Wishing Whales

     Princess Maya and Prince Mark were twins.They were allowed to 

roam the grounds of the great kingdom called 'Wishing Whales'.

     Princess Maya and Prince Mark would dress in very beautiful 

clothes.The clothes were much the same in color.Princess Maya had 

a pet dog whom she named Beamer.Prince Mark wanted a pet to love 

but what he desired was not allowed in the kingdom. Oh the sadness 

he felt not having a pet of his own.He would ask over and over again 

for his special pet.The Queen and King were very sure that the pet 

Prince Mark wanted would not be easy to take care of.

     No matter what his friends from all around the kingdom brought 

to Prince Mark to chose as his favorite pet he was never happy.

     An elephant was much too big to take for a walk.The monkey was 

very naughty and climbed over every bit of the furniture.The bird 

would chirp all through the night.Prince Mark could not sleep and 

neither could Princess Maya.

     The bunny was much too timid to hold or cuddle with.The mouse 

was always hiding.He was never around long enough to play with.The 

frog needed to live in a pond where he could swim and be with other 

water animals.

     The duck was not alone because she was 

going to be a mommy real soon.The best place 

for mommy duck to be is with her chicks in a 

pond in the nearby forest.

     One beautiful sunny day a very tall and slender lady walked up 

to the long stairway that lead up to the castle doors.Prince Mark 

had noticed the lady many times before.He approached the lady and 

asked her why she was always in the Wishing Whales kingdom and 

yet never stopping to talk to any one.The lady hesitated for a 

moment and spoke in a very beautiful voice.

     'Hello Prince Mark.It is an honor to meet you.My name is 

Cassandra.I live down by the ocean with my mother and father.You 

may know them' she said in a lovely voice.

    'Oh yes I certainly do know of your parents Cassandra.They are 

very kind and honest workers of the sea' replied Prince Mark.

     Princess Maya walked up to the lady and introduced herself with a 

big smile.Cassandra was very pleased to meet her.

     'My what a very pretty princess you are Princess Maya.Of course 

you are quite the handsome prince as well Prince Mark.I hope my 

dropping by like this is okay with the rules of the Wishing Whales 

kingdom' asked Cassandra.

     'Oh yes indeed.We love all our visitors.What brings you by this fine 

day Cassandra?'Prince Mark asked.

     'I have noticed that you do not smile as often as Princess Maya.I am 

here to help put a smile on your beautiful face.What is it that makes 

you so sad all the time?'Casandra asked.

    'I long to have my very own pet to take care of.My parents have 

told me that it is impossible to have what I wish for' answered 

Prince Mark.

     'What do you wish for?' asked Cassandra.

     'I wish to have my very own whale.I want to talk to it,sing to 

it,spend my days watching it swim in the beautiful ocean.I feel it 

may never be possible.I do have dreams of owning my very own 

whale someday.I even have the perfect name for it. I will call him 

Wally' sighed Prince Mark.
