My Tooth Fairy
Sarah was in Grade One. Mommy had
prepared Sarah for the day when she would
begin to lose her baby teeth. There were lots of
children in her class who already have lost some
of their baby teeth. The first teeth that Sarah
will lose are the ones on the bottom.

Every day would pass and Sarah had not
lost any of her baby teeth. Sometimes she would
try really hard and move her teeth back and
forth.
'Look mommy, I have a loose tooth. Look at
this' Sarah said excitedly.
'Oh my Sarah, I think you do have a loose
tooth. It will not be long now' mommy replied
with a smile.

When Sarah brushed her teeth, she would be
gentle as she brushed the loose ones. Fall was
approaching. Sarah loved this time of year. It
was the time to find a costume and go out trick
or treating on Hallowe'en night.
When the night was over Sarah would come
home and empty her treat bag of goodies on the
living room floor.

There was so much candy. The rule for
Hallowe'en treats was that she was allowed to
pick out as much candy as her age. That meant
that Sarah was allowed five treats.
She picked out a big red apple, a sucker,
candy corn, jelly beans and a juice box. It was so
much fun eating treats before bedtime.

I have one treat left mommy. This big juicy
apple looks really tasty' Sarah said as she took a
big bite.
'OW!' Sarah screamed.
The apple caused one of her baby teeth to
become really loose. Sarah touched the tooth
and jiggled it back and forth. The tooth would
not come out.

'It will not come out mommy!' Sarah said
sadly.
'Sarah when I was a little girl my Uncle David
said he could help me pull my tooth out with a
string tied to a door handle. The door was open.
It was really scary. Just when uncle David closed
the door I screamed 'STOP'' mommy said with
laughter in her voice.

Sarah knew that mommy was telling a wild
story. Uncle David was always teasing everyone
when he would come for a visit.
'Sarah, now go and brush your teeth before
you go to bed please. You have to look after your
baby teeth. The grown up teeth have to be
looked after because they will be your last set
of teeth' mommy told Sarah.

Sarah put on her pajamas and started to
brush her teeth. She felt something different
in her mouth. She looked into the mirror and
smiled.
'I lost my tooth!' I lost my baby tooth. Come
see mommy. I cannot believe it' Sarah called out
loud.

Mommy gave Sarah a big hug.
'Where is your tooth? You have to place it
under your pillow tonight. Our tooth fairy will
come while you are sleeping. The fairy will take
the tooth away and place some money under your
pillow' mommy said with an excited voice.
