If only ALL animals were as happy 

and treated as well as this dog. He 

is loved by all of his family 

members and is taken care of in the 

best way possible. 

But.. sadly all animals aren't as happy nor 

treated as well as that dog. Believe it or not 

but according to the American Society 

Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), 

nearly 7.6 million companion animals (such as 

dogs and cats) are neglected and get put into 

animal shelters nation wide each year!! Now 

that looks like a sad puppy.

What is animal abuse?

   The article called "PAWS" defines that 

animal abuse is when someone hurts an animal 

physically or does not care for an animal 

responsibly. An example would be not giving a 

dog or cat food and water leading to an 

underweight and unhealthy animal. It is against 

the law to treat animals or even your own pets 

this way. 

In the article ASPCA, it states 

that one of the most common forms 

of animal abuse is dog fighting. 

Each year, nearly 100,000 dogs die 

in illegal dog fighting.
