 Love Can Keep Us Together

     Claire and Manuel fell in love on a cool yet beautiful 

Fall evening. Manuel knelt before his beautiful love, 

Claire. He took a hold of her warm soft hand and asked 

her to marry him.

     Claire was very much in love with Manuel. She 

answered in a happy voice 'Oh Yes!'

     Manuel slipped a diamond ring on her finger and kissed 

her lovingly.

     It was not long before wedding bells were ringing and 

two hearts became as one in the eyes of God.

     'I now pronounce you husband and wife. May your 

love last forever. Amen!' the preacher announced in 

front of everyone in the church.

     Oh how wonderful the love was between Claire and 

Manuel. There was so much joy and laughter. A year had 

passed. There soon was a special announcement made at 

the family Christmas dinner.

     'Manuel and I are expecting our first child soon' 

Claire spoke in a very happy voice. She rubbed her 

tummy and took a deep breath.

     Nine months later 'Tina Louise' was born. A beautiful 

baby girl. Tina was born with some health problems. 

Manuel and Claire were young parents and very prepared 

to take care of Tina unconditionally.  

     As Tina grew up and turned one year old Claire and 

Manuel were blessed a new baby girl.

     She was a beautiful blonde haired girl with beautiful 

blue eyes. Her name was Mary Anne. She was as healthy 

as she could be. Now Tina had someone to play with. Life 

was wonderful. Manuel had to get a second job. The 

medicine for Tina was very expensive. Manuel would do 

anything to keep his little girl healthy. 

     Two little babies took a whole lot of love and care. 

Claire loved every second taking such care of her little 

baby girls. A year and half had had gone bye so quickly. 

Much to Claire and Manuel's surprise another little baby 

girl was born.

     Claire and Manuel named the little girl Nessa Marie. 

Nessa was a very happy baby with big hazel eyes. She 

loved to make lots of music with her little voice. Claire 

and Manuel were beginning to feel tired. The pressure of 

having such a large family at such a young age created 

some new problems. 

     They felt they could handle whatever the good Lord 

had offered them. Sometimes things in life come with no 

manual or rules to follow. Claire and Manuel were 

beginning to argue. It was causing the children to become 

very upset.

     The children would huddle together to make each 

other feel safe. Two years has passed quite quickly. Tina 

was getting better. The little babies were turning into 

little girls. Everything was once again becoming quite 

normal around the house.

     One evening Tina, Mary and Nessa were all snuggled 

into their beds. A loud noise woke them up. They could 

hear mommy and daddy yelling at each other. It was so 

scary. Nessa and Mary climbed into the bed with Tina. 

They snuggled up real close.   Mommy and daddy argued 

for a long time.

     It was very late in the evening before the children 

got back to sleep. In the morning Mommy had spoken of 

another baby over the phone with Aunt Dora. Mommy was 

happy but she knew it was difficult for daddy.

     Daddy was working from morning to late in the night. 

Mommy was all alone with four children while daddy was 

working a lot. Their hearts were growing apart.When the 

fourth baby was born mommy and daddy felt it was going 

to be a son.

     On the first day of summer a new baby girl was born. 

Daddy and mommy had named her Shelby Lee. She was 

healthy and had big brown eyes and a nose as cute as a 

button. For eighteen months mommy and daddy argued 

constantly. 

     It was not a very healthy home to be growing up in. 

Tina, Mary, Nessa and Shelby were sad a lot. They felt 

sad all the time because mommy and daddy were not 

happy. There was silence for many days. The children 

knew something was not okay.

     Mommy and daddy sat the girls up to the kitchen 

table on a Saturday morning. Mommy was going to make 

an announcement. She wanted to explain to the girls 

what was really happening in the house. 

     Tina was now six years of age. Mary was five years of 

age. Ness was four years of age and Shelby was only two 

and one half years of age. They were so young but 

wanted mommy and daddy to stop fighting.
