Light Waves:
Pupil: small opening in the center of the eye.
Iris: the colored part of the eye.
Lens: behind the pupil and helps focuses the light to the retina.
Retina: tissue in the back of the eye that sensors photos.
Rods: detect black, white and gray colors.
Cones: detect detail and color.
Optic Nerve: collection of neurons that sends information to the brain.
Visual Cortex: located at the back of the brain, processes information
Optical Illusion: thinking that you see something that actually isn't there.

These are the waves that go into our eyes and help us
see color and detail. These waves feed information to
our brains to help us see in our every day lives.

The pupil is where the
light waves enter. It is
the dark circle in the
center of your eye.

The Iris is the color of our eyes. It
controls the size of our pupils by the
lighting that enters our eyes.

The lens focuses and
helps transfer the
light onto a different
part of the eye.

The retina is a large part inside the eye
that receives information from the lens.
The retina holds important and delicate
nerves that help us see.

Rods and
Cons are two
important
nerves that
are located in
the Retina.

There is only one
kind of Rod. Rods
are what detect
the darker lighting
like black, white
and gray. Rods pick
up more of the
weaker light waves.
