Hi! My name is Steve. I am a red 

blood cell. I am here to tell you about 

the pathway that me and my friends 

take through your body. Red blood 

cells, like myself, are what make up 

your blood along with plasma, a 

mixture of water, proteins, and salt, 

white blood cells, and platelets. My 

job is to oxygenate your body. 

The system starts -and ends- at 

the heart. I enter the heart from 

the capillaries through the 

superior and inferior vena cava  

and go into the right atrium. 

Then, the right atrium will 

contract around me. I will then 

travel through the tricuspid valve 

to the right ventricle where the 

right ventricle will contract.
