     There once was a young girl 

who was named Petula. She had a 

very unusual pet. Her pet was a 

rock called Shadow. Petula would 

place Shadow into a little blue 

bed stuffed with cotton. 

     Shadow was a rock with 

curves, dents and holes that were 

created by being tossed around 

for a long time in the waters of 

Mispec Beach.

Bath time for Shadow

     Petula would wash Shadow in 

bubbly water and dry him really 

good. She would then place him 

back in his warm cotton bed. 

When Shadow was hungry Petula 

would feed him imaginary food.

     Petula would burp Shadow and 

sing to him. She would then lay 

him down for his nap. Wherever 

Petula would go she would take 

Shadow with her.

     Shadow got to see many 

things and visit wonderful places. 

Shadow did not say much but he 

sure did smile a lot. He was loved 

very much.

     Petula sat up to her table and 

began reading her favorite story 

time book. She was getting very 

hungry. 'I have to go for lunch 

Shadow so be good while I am 

gone' said Petula in a wee voice.
