It was a lovely day on the Atlantic coast. Spotted
dolphins were coming out of the water and going
back in. My friends, Vaishy and Brinley, and I were
in our motorboat for an underwater swimming
expedition. We put on our swimming suits and dove
into the water. There were many beautiful types of
fish and coral reefs.

We saw a big ship above our heads. Near the ship,
we saw a coral reef, and I remembered a science
lesson. Coral reefs weren’t plants, they were
creatures called polyps. I was glad I got to see
that. We wanted to see what the bottom of a ship
looked like. So we swam directly under it. We had a
special underwater speaking device that we were
going to use to speak. “Look at that!” said Vaishy,
pointing towards a big and very rare kind of
seashell stuck to the bottom of the ship.

I took out our seashell collection bag and yanked
the seashell from the bottom of the ship.We all
decided to swim to the motorboat to get water.
When we swam to where we had left it, it was
nowhere to be seen!!!

“We need to look for it,” I said urgently. We
started to swim around. As we swam, searching for
our motorboat, we couldn't’t enjoy the beauty of
the ocean around us (though I was looking for
clown fish and anemones!). Our oxygen tank needed
to be refilled, so we went to the surface and
refilled them. On our way back, we saw a dolphin
that was covered in plastic and was choking. A lost
motorboat and a hurt dolphin! What could possibly
be worse?

down and do something to help the dolphin.
We were all starting to panic, when Brinley said that we
should calm down and dosomething to help the poor dolphin.
We saw a motorboat sailing by, and we swam towards it. It
was ours! There was someone wearing a badge that said
Scientist Thomas in our motorboat. We asked him why he
had it. Shrugging, he said, “I found it on the shore, so I
decided to look for its owners.” Vaishy and I called to the
dolphin to come by making hand movements and softly
patting it. Brinley pointed to a big pile of trash about three
hundred yards away from us.
