Premise
This story is written in the perspective of a girl in high school who is
a bit of a downer, she doesn't like much and it's hard to make her
smile. She thinks that everything is boring, everything is too
normal. She just wants a bit of adventure. She just wants a bit of
change. She doesn't want to do the same thing over and over
again; Waking up, eating breakfast, going to school, coming home,
going to bed, and doing it again. In this story she is going to have
the adventure she wants.

Chapter 1
It was Monday and I was going to school. I hated Mondays, or as many people say I “dislike” them, a lot. I got to school and
met up with my friend Jared, he was normal, with a fair amount of friends, making relatively good grades and being the class
clown, he didn't have much to worry about. I put my heavy bag in my locker, and we walked to class. Since we had the same first
period, we always walked to class together. We got to class and sat near the back like always. Jared and I had been friends for a
while now so he usually knew not to persuade me to do something I didn't want to do, like sit closer to the front, he knew I was
too stubborn.
I was going to be bored at school. When I was young my mom took me to take a test turned out I had a very high IQ level for
my age. Basically my mind is not as simple as the normal human brain. I can think of all the possibilities of something happening,
and all of the steps to doing a certain thing, all of the possible explanations of something, all of the possible answers to a problem,
and all of events that might happen if a certain event occurred. Basically I have a very advanced mind.
“Alright class. today we will be learning about ‘Current Fair Use Guidelines’.” said Mrs. Philip happily, she was always happy. She
projected the computer screen onto the board and opened a document “Current fair use guidelines are the rules to fair use of
copyright. Fair use is a limitation to the right granted by copyright law to the author of something. In the United States copyright
law, fair use is a set of beliefs that permits limited use of copyrighted material without getting permission from the owners.” I was
getting bored.
Later that day, after school, I was walking with Kate, my other friend, she was the popular cheerleader friend that you can't get
rid of so you just except them and learn that they are actually really nice and helpful, She wanted to go shopping with me and I
had nothing to do so I just went with her. We were in an antique store, that was the one thing we had in common, we both liked
antique stuff. We were walking up and down aisles when I saw a twinkle out of the corner of my eye. I walked over and started to
look around when I spotted a clear blue, stone pendant on a necklace.

“What did you find Mia?” Kate asked. I showed her the necklace and she looked at it in awe.
“Oh wow, it looks so pretty!” I walked over to a mirror, I had to agree it was quite a beautiful necklace. After Kate
persuaded me to buy it we went both went to her house. To work on a project.

We were making a presentation for history. Everyone in class could have a partner so we decided to work together. We got
assigned a state and had to make a timeline about it's history. We got Florida.
“I'm happy we got Florida. It's such a fun state, I think. It is isn't it?” she looked at me knowing I had the answer. Kate knows I
know a lot but luckily she isn't selfish and just pairs up with me to get all of the answers. She pairs up with me a lot though, she
always says she wants to learn from me. I was checking over the presentation, when I noticed that nothing was cited.
“Hey Kate, where are the citings?” I asked.
“The what?” she answered.
“The citings, were are they?” I asked again.
“What are citings?” You know, where you link the site that you got the information from. It's part of ‘Fair Use Guidelines’.” she
stared at me blankly. I sighed.
“‘Fair Use Guidelines’ are the guidelines to copyright. Thinks like the rules to citing, copyright. Thinks like the rules to citing,
copyright, creative commons, things like that. The rules that protect your creative work or someone else creative work from
being stolen.”
“Ohhhh. I get it.” she said.
“Yeah well you need to cite everything and stuff or we might get sued.” I said looking at her
“Seriously!”
“Yeah, did you not listen the lecture the other day about this?” I asked
“I'm not in that class.”
“Oh yeah, whoops, sorry, I forgot. Anyways you need to put citing in.”
“Uhh, Fine.”
≁≁≁≁
The next day I got home from school and went to my apartment. When I opened the door, my apartment was in ruins.
Drawers were dumped out all over the floor, chairs were turned over, cabinets were opened and their contents were spread out all
over the counters.
“What the heck!” I yelled out.

Chapter 2
I woke up, put on a hoodie along with the necklace I bought - it would make Kate happy - walked to class with Jared,
“learned” about things, and Kate, Jared, and I decided to walk around town. As we were walking someone grabbed me by the
arm. I turned around to a guy my age in a leather black jacket, and black pants.
“Give me the stone.” he said.
“Who’s that?” Kate asked.
“I don't know.” I answered “Who are you?” I asked.
“That doesn't matter give me it.” he seemed annoyed.
“Wait! Are you the person that trashed my apartment?” Now I was getting annoyed.
“He trashed your apartment?” Jared was getting confused
“Give me the stone!”
“Oooooh, you mean this.” I pulled the necklace out from under my jacket. He tried grabbing for it but I backed away
before he could get it. I pointing my finger at him like he was a disobedient dog “I payed for this with my own money, and
besides I think it fits me, don't you think?” I said.
It looked like he was getting mad “I swear if you don't give me that stone-”
“Brad, people are noticing.” I hadn't even noticed but there were two other guys behind him. Brad looked around, the
guy was right people were starting to stare.
He grunted in annoyance “You are lucky today.” he said and walked away with the other two guys.
“That was weird.” Jared said still a bit confused by our encounter.
“Yea, are you sure you don't know who they are Mia?” Kate asked me.
“Not at all.” I said looking at the pendant “It seemed he was looking after this.” we all looked at the pendant.
“Huuuuh! What if it some weird magical rock thing, and it's super important to the government, and those guys are
the bad guys that are trying to steal it, because it cost a lot of money!” Kate said with with big hopeful eyes. She likes drama.

“Yeah. I don't think so.” Jared said laughing. Kate glared at him, I was still staring at the pendant. It seemed to be
radiating a warm glow.
≁≁≁≁
Later that day I was just about to go to bed when there was a knock on the door. “Who knocks at someone's door this
late?” I walked over and opened the door. There was a guy around my age, with black hair, in a dark jacket and blue jeans.
“Hello, I'm looking for Mia Jones.” He said.
“That is me.” I replied.
“Well, I am agent Kyle Marcus, and I have a message for you from the SOE.” he said staring at me
“Wait, What?”
≁≁≁≁
“So, you are telling me that this little rock pendant can make people see a realistic version of their worst nightmares
and fears, if they touch it, and it can make people do what I tell them to do, if I make contact with them while wearing the
pendant.” I say skeptically
“Yes.” he said, I was having a hard time believing him.
“Then how was it in a store where I could just simply buy it, and how come I am not having my worst fears shone to
me, even though I'm wearing it?”
“Because it was inactive. There are other people like you who can hold the pendant without seeing their fears, they are
called Handlers. Handlers are the only people who can control people with the pendant without being cursed, they are also the
only people who can activate the pendant.” He explained
“Yeahhh. Well, sorry agent dude, I think you have the wrong… pendant thing, and I'm having a hard time believing you,
so I'm going to have to ask you to leave” I said walking over to the door and opening it.
“You don't believe me?” he said.
“Nope.” I answered.
“So there hasn't been anything weird going on,” he asked “anything at all?”
“I already told you, no."
He sighed “Well fine, I guess if you don't want to believe me then I can't make you.” he said “But I will warn you. You
are in great danger when you are in possession of that pendant. Many horrible people are out there looking for it to use against
the world.”
