I stared at the airport entrance with a
dismal expression on my face. I was
essentially broke and in desperate need of
money. After scrambling for money for
weeks, I was able to afford an airport ticket
to my aunt's house where I hoped to find
hospitality and a possible job. Walking
through the gates, it took at least one hour
for me to go through the security check
until I finally reached the lounge. With a
loud sigh, I flopped down on one of the
chairs.

I grew conscious of the stare of an
extremely suspicious man. He was wearing
a long, brown coat which was clearly an
attempt to hide the conspicuous package in
one of his pockets. I can't even fathom how
he passed through security. "Oi, you," he
spoke. My face turned red and I recited all
of the mantras my mother spoke to about
on why-you-shouldn't-talk-to-strangers in
my mind. "Listen, you're not very rich, are
you," he persisted. I like to think I'm well
dressed, but the holes in my clothes
differed.

"I've got a package that I need you to
deliver." He caught sight of the frantic look
in my eyes and assured me,"It's nothin'
suspicious. It's just a package my daughter
gave me and I won't be able to take it with
me. I've got too much baggage." He
continued to say,"Don't think much of it,
just a mate helping another mate out,
right?" I hesitantly nodded my head since
he did seem to be particularly forlorn about
it. "Thanks, mate," he hurriedly spoke and
shoved the package in my hands.

"I'll take it from you at the end of the
flight," were his last words. Throughout the
entire flight, I was beyond nervous and
anxious. At the slightest sound, I would be
easily startled. Then, when the flight ended
and I went into the airport lounge, the man
was actually waiting for me. He took the
package from my hands and thanked me
profusely. The moral I learned from this was
that sometimes it's good to help strangers
in order to bring a smile to their face, and
you get money too.
