A long time ago, in a kingdom far, far away, there was
a little street in a small village called Wellington, and
that little street was called Wellington way. A small
handful of people had a special gift of some kind.
Some had more courage than others, some more
creative, and some stronger than everyone else.
Those people lived on Wellington Way. While they
were the most helpful residents in the village,
everyone who was not gifted despised them, and
became jealous.

One day, trolls attacked, coming out of the
forest in hoards, so the villagers offered up the
Gifted to appease the trolls, save the village,
and get rid of the residents of Wellington Way,
all at once, and the trolls accepted their offer
and took the Gifted back to their lair. There was
nothing to be done, because no one wanted to
do anything. Except...what the villagers didn't
know was that the youngest Gifted, age ten,
had been out collecting nuts and berries at the
time of the invasion and was left behind.

When she returned to the village, everyone was
shocked to see her, once they realized who she was.
Her name was Kaylee Pax, and she had been gifted
with great wisdom, far beyond her years. So when she
heard of what the villagers had done, she immediately
set out for the Trolls lair, wearing boy's clothing for
easier travel. She had one problem, however. The way
to the lair of the trolls was across a small desert called
Kycinth, and to get there, she'd have to pass by the
famous Sphinx of Kycinth.

She walked and walked and walked, until finally, she
reached the dreaded Sphinx. It was a large cat made of
stone, with the head of a man. "Hello!" She called out,
once she saw that it's eyes were open, watching her.
They stared at each other in silence until it spoke. "You
must solve this riddle in order to pass; What has a
mouth but doesn't speak, runs but has no legs, and has
a bed but doesn't sleep?"
Kaylee thought hard for a moment before answering.
"The answer is a river." She declared, heart pounding.
Again there was silence. Then...
"You may pass." Said the Sphinx. Once again, Kaylee
was on her way to rescue the kidnapped villagers. Soon,
she reached a tall structure made of gray stone. It had
to be the place.

But the doors were locked! So Kaylee had to lie
down in the sand behind a dune and wait for
someone to open the door. She was not
disappointed, and a few minutes later, two
trolls came through the gates running and
screaming, an angry camel close behind. As
curious as she was as to what would happen to
them, Kaylee knew she had to keep going and
rushed through the gate before it closed. But
she'd need a diversion...Thoughtfully, she
stared at the small group of camels tied up in
the corner and grinned.
