Science is all around
us, no matter where
you are. When you
make an educated
guess about what will
happen, even if the
answer seems very
apparent; you're
hypothesizing!
Even telling temperature is using
science! There are 3 different units of
temperature; Celsius, Fahrenheit, and
Kelvin.

Cool huh? Let's talk about
about lots of other things
that are science...

Everything is made up of elements.
Some of these elements are;
aluminum, calcium, carbon,
chlorine, fluorine, magnesium,
nickel, oxygen, and mercury.
Elements are made of things called
atoms which contain different
numbers of protons and electrons.

Each element contains a different
atomic number and weight.
A compound is when 2
elements form a bond.
It has been said that 2 of
our elements; hydrogen
and helium were created
by the Big Bang
nucleosynthesis.
The Big Bang Theory is
an effort to explain what
happened at the very
beginning of our universe

Natural Disasters are part of Science too!
Some natural disasters are;
Earthquakes, avalanches, hurricanes,
tornadoes, floods, tsunmais, even
droughts can be considered a natural
disaster! Some can effect the weather,
others we can are coming by the weather.
Some cause heavy rainfall, rainstorms,
even landslides.
What type of natural disaster do you
think could be most deadly?
Volcanoes are pretty
phenomenal. A volcano is a
mountain that has an
opening at the top and opens
up to a a pool of molten
rock below the surface of
the earth. When pressure
builds up, eruptions occur.
Gases and rock shoot up
through the opening and spill
over with lava.

Continental drift is the movement of the
Earth's continents relative to each other,
appearing to drift across the ocean bed.

The idea of continental drift has been subsumed by the theory of plate
tectonics, which explains how the continents move. It states that
Earth's outer shell is divided into several plates that glide over the
mantle which is the layer above the core. The Earth has several
different layers, and different parts of those layers.

Layers of Earth..
These layers are called the crust which is composed of a
great variety of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary
rocks. The lithosphere and and asthenosphere right
between the crust and mantle. The next is the upper
mantle and then the mantle. Earth's mantle is a silicate
rocky shell. Next is the core which included both the outer
core, and then the inner core. The inner core is solid which
is distinct from its liquid outer core.

More cool stuff!...
Asteroids-a small rocky body orbiting the sun. Large numbers of these,
ranging in size from nearly 600 miles (1,000 km) across (Ceres) to dust
particles, are found (as the asteroid belt ) especially between the orbits
of Mars and Jupiter, though some have more eccentric orbits, and a few
pass close to the earth or enter the atmosphere as meteors.

What are meteors?
Small bodies of matter from outer space
that enters the earth's atmosphere,
becoming incandescent as a result of
friction and appearing as a streak of
light.

Did you there are different types of rocks?
The three types are sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous. The main difference
between them is the way they are formed Sedimentary rocks are formed from
particles of sand, shells, pebbles, and other fragments of material.
Some examples of
sedimentary rocks
include conglomerate
and limestone.
Some examples of
metamorphic rocks
include gneiss and
marble.
Some examples of
igneous rocks include
basalt and obsidian.

Velocity!
Velocity can be described as an equivalent to a specification of an
objects speed and direction of motion.
If there is a change in speed or direction then the object's velocity
will also change.

A lot of people confuse speed and
velocity... so what's the difference?
Speed only describes how fast an
object is moving.
Velocity describes how fast, and in
what direction an object is moving.
