It was the first day of school for fishes all across the water. Mama fish was packing a lunch to send off with her daughter.

Suzy was brushing her fins and straightening her tail. She was so nervous that she was turning pale.

When she swam to the school, something caught her eye. There were two other creatures playing on the side.

But as she got closer, she saw that one kind of looked in pain. Suzy swam past them thinking “Oh, it’s probably just a game.”

At lunch time, she sits with all her fishy friends. They laugh and they chatter as they discuss the latest trends. Off to the side, they notice a new fish sitting in the corner. Suzy thinks, “All by himself, I’d hate to be a loner.”

During recess, she spots something that makes her upset. It seems that Cory Crab the bully and the new fish have met. She swims closer to him, thinking he needs help. It reminds her of how she had once felt.

Suzy almost reaches the new fish, when something makes her pause. Cory Crab the bully took out his big scary claws! She floats away, because it’s what she thinks is best. She doesn’t want to be a part of this big mess.

After recess, Suzy and her friends swim back to class. She sits next to the new fish and learns his name is Bobby Bass. She notices he has a sad look on his face. She asks, “What’s wrong?” and he replies “I hate this place!”
