An Easter to Remember
Of all the holidays in an entire year Easter holds such wonderful memories. Jenna and her five sisters and two brothers made Easter so special that they could never forget. Every Easter weekend mommy and daddy would pack up some clothes for everyone and head on out to nanny and grampy's house in the country.

Everyone would pile into the big red station wagon. It was always a wonderful celebration. There were relatives and neighbours and lots of children living in houses surrounding nanny and grampy's house. The fun was endless. On Friday evening most of the men and boys would have a road hockey game. All the women would sit in sun chairs and watch the game cheering on the players.

The game would last until dark. Bed time was not an issue for this special weekend. Grammies house was big filled with lots of rooms for everyone to share. Jenna and two of her sisters Sarah and Daisy shared a bed in one room. There were plenty of homemade quilts to keep every one warm in the slightly cold rooms. The farmhouse was old but it had lots of character and held plenty of memories.

There were no doors on the rooms but hanging curtains that kept privacy for every room. Jenna's other sisters Beth, Mary and Tina shared the second room. The walls were covered with floral wallpaper. The walls were thin and it was easy to talk to each other from another room. Jenna's two brothers shared a pull out couch in the front room. The wood stove kept them much warmer but no one complained.

Every one was very cozy in their own special way. Memories were being made so what ever was to happen was meant to be remembered in years to come. Saturday had come and the day would be filled with visits to each others homes. Every house was filled with embracing love and delicious food. The farmhouse was called the community house. This was a place where everyone was welcomed with open arms.

When everyone left there was a warm goodbye that ensured all that they were welcome to visit again soon. Saturday was so special. Every year on the day before Easter Sunday all the families would gather together and trim the trees with colourful eggs. The children would decorate the lower parts of the tree with homemade Easter decorations.

The excitement built in the heart of everyone as the community began to look like Easter. The sound of laughter from the children filled the spring air. If you walked up close to a group of children you could witness the talk about the coming of the Easter bunny. It would leave awesome tingly feelings. Mommy and daddy loved that special feeling of Easter. Easter is the best time for happiness and excitement.

Easter was the best. Bunnies were quite common in the fields behind the farm houses. The younger boys would venture into the tall grass in search for the bunnies. Teenagers would gather at the long bridge that was built over the river stream filled with small fish and shiny stones. The conversations were filled with teenage topics and silly laughter. Excitement was had had by all ages.
