One cold winter afternoon, a young boy named Wayne Gretzky was about to try skating for the first time. When he got on the ice, he loved it. At that moment, he realized he was meant to skate.

Everyday, he skated for hours to improve his performance. He loved hockey so much that he decided he was going to be a professional hockey player when he grew up.

From then on, he practiced his skating and hockey skills until he was able to play in a competitive league. His first season was rough as he only scored one goal. He never gave up though, and he continued to improve to the point where other families were angry because he scored so much.

He played minor hockey until he was a teenager finishing his last season with 378 goals and setting an all time record! He was so amazing that he was even playing against kids older than he was. When he was done with the minor leagues, he was recruited to play for an Ontario Junior Hockey league.

Wayne Gretzky was not noticed by the big leagues until one year when he scored the most goals in the league. Sadly, he was not old enough to play with the big leagues, so he played for a farm team called the Indianapolis Racers. Soon after that, the team's franchise closed down. Gretzky was finally able to be drafted into the big leagues.

Wayne played for an amazing team called the Edmonton Oilers. He wore number 99, only because 9 was taken. He won a total of 4 Stanley Cups, many other trophies, and broke several records with all the points he was earning.
