Jada Giraffe is from the African Savanna. She recently moved to Calgary, Alberta, Canada with her mom, her dad and her baby brother.

Jada Giraffe was sad to leave her friends, her grandma and grandpa, her special pet African Gray Parrot Chico, her school and her comfortable home behind. Canada is a strange new place for Jada Giraffe.

 

Jada likes to eat green leaves high in the trees.  She pulls the juicy leaves off the trees with her long black tongue.  In Canada, the pine trees taste different from what she is used to eating. 

Jada likes to roam in the sunny grasslands.  She loves warm weather.  In Canada, Jada Giraffe has a hard time getting comfortable in the snowy fields.  She also has a hard time staying up right on the slippery ice.  Her long legs slide out from under her.

Jada Giraffe left her friends Molly Monkey and Sammy Snake behind in the Savanna Plains.  She has not met any new friends yet, but Pepper Penguin seems nice.  Pepper Penguin doesn’t understand how to speak Giraffe, and Jada doesn’t know how to speak Penguin.  Jada Giraffe needs to learn a new language.

Unusual food, weather, language and people are hard to get used to.  Jada Giraffe misses home.
