What is Matter?
Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.
Matter is important to chemistry because the building blocks of matter are atoms, and atoms are the bases for chemical and chemical compounds.

SPEAKING OF ATOMS!
There are three particles of an atom: electrons, neutrons, and protons.
Electrons have a -1 charge, Protons have a -2 charge, and neutrons have no charge.
Both Protons and Neutrons are located in the middle of the atom. This middle is know as the Nucleus.
The electrons are located in the shells of the atom. The shells are rings around the nucleus, kind of like the rings of Saturn.

There are different types of matter.
Elements cannot be broken down ever by chemical or physical means.
A molecule is two or more atoms bonded together.
If a molecule contains two or more different atoms it’s called a compound.
