My story begins back on my home planet, the Earth.
Earth is the only place in the solar system with lots of water all over. It's in the air, in the oceans, and its even frozen into ice!

Space is really big and empty. Even the closest things to the Earth are very far away. The Moon is about 400,000 km away from the Earth.
It will take Stella the Astronaut about 3 days to get to the Moon. But it takes light only about 1 second because light travels WAY faster than a rocket.

Wow! I'm finally on the moon. I have to wear my space suit so that I don't get hurt. Since there is no air to breathe, I need to bring my own air supply inside my suit.

Stella the Astronaut can also clearly see the Earth and stars because there is no atmosphere on the Moon to scatter the light. Even though the Earth is really big, it looks small from so far away.

The Moon is covered in giant round formations called craters. These formed long ago before Stella, her Daddy and Mommy, and even before her grandparents were born.
They were created when big rocks from space called meteoroids and asteroids crashed into the Moon.
