Beep, beep, beep, beep! That was a sound Caroline
knew by heart. It was her trusty alarm clock. "Ahhhhh,
I don't know what I would do without you," She smiled
at it and shut it off. She opened her blinds, " I love
waking up to the sun shining in my room. I'm probably
the only twelve-year-old girl waking up four hours
before school..... But it's sooo worth it." She got out of
bed and started packing up her stuff. "Math book?
Check. English folder? Here. Homework folder? Yup.
Regular clothes? Check. Skates, Routine music,
sweatshirt? Yup everything here," She combed out her
hair and put on her makeup. "Ugh, stupid makeup, At
least it means i'm doing well in my routine. I'm totally
ready for the competition," She smiled at herself then
went downstairs. "Hi mom! Do you know where my
skating dress is?" She got down some cereal and
poured herself some.

"Its right over there on the bathroom door. Get
changed, We have to get going soon," Said Mrs. Jay,
Carolines mother. "Are you all packed? Where is your
school stuff?" Caroline finished her cereal and got
into her dress. She put her hair up in her matching
scrunchie. She got her school stuff and skating stuff
and got into the car. "I think Brigid is going to start
training you for the competition. We need to get you
a new dress. This dress doesn't match your song."
"Ya.... but you really think she is going to start
training me?" They pulled into the rink and Caroline
got out of the car. "I CANT WAIT!!" She ran into the
rink and got her skates on right away.

"Hey Brigid!" Brigid was Caroline's skating coach
and Caroline Loved her. "What are we going to do
today?"
"Hey Caroline! I was thinking about it and I think
that you should participate in the spring competition.
You are ready. Did you bring your music?" Brigid was
so pretty and nice, everybody who had her loved
her. When they got on the ice after warming up, she
stopped. " Caroline, I was thinking and I think you
need a more complex double jump." I was thinking
about a axel into a salchow. How do you feel about
that?" She thought for a while. Carolines salchow
was down pat but she was thinking about her axle.

She wasn't very secure with it. "Um... sure. Do I
still have to come into it from the sit spin? I asked.
"Yes, it will be a challenge," All of a sudden the
rink got just a bit colder, "Just don't forget, you go
into the axle with the left foot. If you don't then you
will hurt yourself." Wow, thanks Caroline thought
sarcastically. That helps lots. The music started and
so did Caroline. Ba da da da dada dada da da da
daaaaaaa........ Caroline thought "Ok, the axle is
coming up, left foot, or wait is it the right foot? Yes,
the right foot," She got into her sit spin and she felt
confident about the upcoming axle. "One, Two... Three!"
She jumped up into the air. She felt unstable but she just
thought it was a bad jump. As she landed she stumbled
and fell fast and hard on

her foot. She screamed. Everybody looked and
stopped what they were doing. Brigid skated
frantically over and looked at Caroline's ankle. Nikki
even heard it all the way from the office! "Caroline
are you ok? Whats wrong? What hurts? What
happened? Do you want us to get help?" All these
questions she could not answer. She felt just too
overwhelmed and confused. Her foot felt like
someone was cutting it off and just all these people
surrounding her.
She could barely talk and it scared her to have
people focusing on just her. She was the youngest of
all the people she skated with, She was only twelve
and everyone else was at least 16. She

burst into tears.
"Caroline, Do you want us to get someone to
help you?" asked Brigid. Caroline didn't know for
sure. She didn't respond and she felt dizzy. Then, It
just all blacked out on her. She fainted. As she
started to wake up, she found herself not at the
rink... but at the Emergency Room. She looked
around and saw her mom, Dad, Brigid, and Nikki.
" Wh, why am I here?" mumbled Caroline. She
knew that she had hurt herself but she didn't
remember anything else after that. She looked at
her foot and it had a thing on it.
"You fell on your axle and then we kept asking
you if you wanted help and you didn't answer. Then

we got help. "What, What about the competition? Is
it going to be healed by then?" She was so worried,
she was looking forward to this and she wouldn't
even be able to skate!
"It will be healed by then, informed Brigid, But
you wont be able to compete because we wont be
able to practice," Caroline was furious. She wanted
this for so long. No matter what Brigid said, She
would compete. She had a plan. A perfect plan.
***
When Caroline got home from school, she
struggled to get dressed and then went downstairs
to think about her plan. "Ok.... competition sign up
sheet. My name? hum... How bout Georgia Lecona.
