Together, we are going to learn about all the wonderful things corn provides. Let's take a look at some ears.

These ears--ears of corn, that is!

Many people don't realize that corn is in many of the things they use every day, including some of their favorite foods.

Corn even feeds some of your favorite animals.

A lot of hard work goes into harvesting and preparing the corn so that it can be turned into the items we use every day.

After corn is harvested from local and large scale farms, the corn is sent to mills. Corn travels from near and far.

The transported corn is inspected and cleaned. Then the corn is steeped* for 40 hours. After the corn is steeped, it is then ground to separate the kernel and the germ. The germ of the corn is found in the center.

*Steeped: to soak in water or liquid
