One starry, clear night, Walden the Owl sat perched on his usual perching tree. He peered up into the sky, watching shooting stars whizz by. As Walden watched, he wondered what the stars wished for as the shooting stars streamed by them.

Did they wish for closer star friends? Did they wish for faces? Did they wish for voices? Did they wish to be brighter?

He wondered what those stars felt, as the shooting stars whizzed by them, were they envious? Did they want to be wished on?

Walden wanted every star to have a wish. And as he wished, another shooting star soared over his little beak.

He closed his eyes and wished so fiercely that every single star in the sky got to wish on the shooting stars. Every small star, every big star, every dim star, every bright star, every single star deserved a wish.

And when he opened his eyes....

Millions of shooting stars danced across the sky in a parade of beautiful, bright madness.

All this time, those stars had been waiting for someone, anyone, to make a wish for them.
