In the parish church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and St. Peregrine there is an immured depiction of St. Peregrine from 14th century. On the main altar there is also his statue.
5

THIS IS THE MOST FAMOUS LEGEND OF ST. PEREGRINE AND HOW HE ARRIVED IN UMAG.
6
One day, St. Peregrine came to Osor, on the Island of Cres. People in Osor begged him: 'Peregrine, stay with us!' And he replied: 'Tell me, what do you normally do when they put a bowl full of hot minestrone in front of you?' Nobody understood. Finally, a man spoke, 'Weee waait foor iit tooo cool, wee wwaaaiiit!'
'Okay, okay! I'm sorry, but I have to leave now,' said St. Peregrine and continued his journey to Labin.

7

St. Peregrine was travelling from town to town. He was welcomed in every town and wherever he came, he asked the same question, 'How do you usually eat minestrone when it's hot?'
8
Some answered they blew in the plate and then, in the spoon. Some put the plate next to the window, so it could cool down and some poured the minestrone from one plate to another, many times if needed!
After he had listened to all the answers, he continued his journey.

9

So, he made his way to Pula.
And in Pula there was a big celebration...
10
'Peregrine, you can't leave. Stay with us! You cannot miss our minestrone!'
Peregrine replied, 'Now, when you've mentioned minestrone, tell me, when it's too hot, how do you usually eat it?'
'We mix it really fast with a spoon, so it cools!', answered one man from Pula.
Then Peregrine said, 'This is a beautiful place, but soon, the Sun will go down, so I better leave...'

11

You should have heared the people from Rovinj when Peregrine sailed into threir port.
12
'Peregrine, stay here! Don't leave! Don't you see how beautiful Rovinj is!
Yes, Rovinj is very nice! I have never seen such a beautiful place! Do you know how to cool a hot plate of minestrone? What is your ritual?'
They replied, 'We put a scoop of cold water in the minestrone and we eat it quickly!'
Peregrine said,' You are very clever. Just keep it that way, but I gotta go...'

13

In Vrsar, there were less people, but celebrations were big.
14
People shouted, 'Peregrine, stay here with us!'
He said again, 'It is really nice here, but tell me, when the minestrone is too hot, how do you cool it off?'
One man said, 'We always eat cold minestrone because it makes us feel less hungry.'
'Good. If I only didn't have to go to Poreč and Novigrad... Maybe I'd stay here with you!'
