It was a cold morning and I woke up in my soft bed. I jumped down the ladder and counted the money. We only needed a few more cents. I woke up my brother and told him to go find some pennies. I put on a pair of pants and a shirt. My brother had found them. We had enough money. I went to my mom and excitedly said, ”We have enough money!"

I ate some cereal, fruit and a glass of milk for breakfast. Then we got in my mom's black car and drove to the Fish Connection. When we got there, we went to the small animal section. Suddenly, I saw a cute little baby dwarf hamster! She was so small that she looked like a little grey puffball with shimmering beady black eyes and a little nose that was as pink as a sunset. The pet shop lady put her in a box and then handed the box to me.

Then it was my brothers turn to pick a hamster. He picked a cinnamon colored baby hamster with long whiskers and brown eyes that were a little red when you look at them in the light. His was a baby, too. The lady put my brother’s hamster in the box with mine. But his hamster tried to attack mine! So, the lady asked, “Would you like another box?” But before anyone could say anything, I accidentally shouted, “Yes!” The lady got a second box. This one looked the same, like an over-sized ice cube. This box was for my brother’s hamster. I only yelled “Yes!” because I needed to protect my hamster from my brother’s vicious one, as mine was so gentle and tiny.

It was time to get supplies for the new hamsters. But then my mom announced that we had to get a second cage because my brother's was a little mean. So, my brother picked a big green cage with three levels. We also got them water bottles to strap to the side of their cage. The water bottles looked like little cement pourers. Mine had a little heart on it and a tiny rubber duck in it to remind you when it gets too low. We also got a thing of bedding. My brother's cage came with a blue and grey food bowl. My mom had told me she would get me something for my hamster to eat from at the house. Also, we got them some more bedding, because my brothers cage only came with a small thing of bedding. The bedding was gold like the sun and looked like corn flakes. It smelled like the needles on a pine tree. We also got them each a little toy. My hamsters toy said “Hamster” on it, and it was long and would dangle from the side of the cage. It was yellow, purple and green. It had circle, oval and square beads.

"Wow!"

"Cool fish!"

My mom told us, “Check out time.” The man at the counter asked, “Is that all?” My mom replied “Yes.” So he took his beeper and scanned the things. When he was done, he put everything in a brown paper bag and handed the boxes with the hamsters in them. Finally, he gave my mom my brother’s cage and we started walking toward the big door, and the man called to us, “Thank you for coming.”

"Thank you for coming."

After that, we got back in my mom’s black car. The little box that I was holding was wiggling around in my hands. I shouted to my mom “This one is very excited!” I shouted because my mom wasn't in the car yet. When my mom got in the car with my little sister and buckled her in, she squealed with excitement and put her little hand toward the box on my lap.

I pulled the box away and looked up at my sister. She was smiling at me. It looked a little weird because of her two little pearly white bottom front teeth. But then she got angry and started reaching for me with her little tiny hands. I was getting a little nervous because her cheeks were turning red, and her little crystal blue eyes were narrowing. Suddenly, she let out an ear piercing screech that almost broke my eardrums. I told my mom and she calmed Ella down.
