David was having a bad day. His mother had taken him to the doctor for the second time this week.

The doctor told David that his blood has a high amount of lead in it. Lead is a common thing, but it is not supposed to be in your blood.

Lead in your blood can make you very sick and you can feel tired.

Even if you do not feel sick, lead in your blood can still cause problems. It can make you not want to eat or make you grouchy.
I'm not hungry!

It also can make it difficult to learn new things.
I don't understand this.

The doctor told David to stay away from places where lead is found. If there is peeling paint in the house or dust on the window sill, David should not touch it.

When David plays outside, it is better to play on the grass instead of in the dirt.

When he comes inside, he should take off his shoes and wash his hands well.
