There once was a place in which there were no books. You could look everywhere, up, down, left, and right and not one was to be found.

Now why was this?

It was because the firemen burned them. Because in this city, firemen didn't need to save houses; they were fireproof.

Instead they were to snuff out books, for they were illegal.

But not all firemen agreed with this.

In fact, one particular fireman decided he just... couldn’t…

And he wasn’t sure why. He burned plenty of books

before, but now he wondered, “Why do we burn them? Why not give them a chance?”
