A long time ago, before humans walked the planet, there was a huge valley on the earth. In this valley lived hundreds of species of animals. In a certain area under a grove of fruit trees lived a flock of birds. These were ordinary birds, but they could not fly.

These ordinary birds lived a very ordinary life. They ate bland grains off the ground and pecked around for the occasional insect. They just waddled about all day, not spreading their wings, not moving faster than a slug. Above them, there were large trees with delicious looking fruit swaying heavy in the branches. However, nobody wanted to try to fly to them.

There was one bird who was just a little more than ordinary. She was extraordinary. Her name was Ariale. Ariale looked different than the others. Instead of brown, her feathers were a shiny silver. She loved thinking about the delicious fruit.

7
One day, Ariale decided she would have some of the fruit. She told the others about her plan, but nobody said anything. Ariale was alone.

...

9
Even though nobody supported her, Ariale would try anyway.

11
She tried once, and fell.
She tried again, and slipped.

13
She tried again and again, but each time, she only fell to the ground.
With tears in her eyes, she decided to quit.
