At Southwest Elementary, there are many
diverse students.There were may different
kinds of attitudes, especially in Mrs. Johnson's
class.
Mrs. Johnson had a new student named Ana.
Ana was shy and timid. Ana recently came
from Ukraine so she did not know much
English.

Most of the class was very helpful to Ana except
for Jeff. Jeff was a bully in Ms. Johnson's class.
He thought he knew everything. Sarah was a
friend of Jeff's. Sarah did whatever Jeff wanted
her to do.

Paul was in Ms. Johnson's class too. Paul was
Jeff's best friend, but he was tired of Jeff's
behavior. Micheal did not like Jeff, Sarah, or
Paul. Micheal has confronted Jeff several times
in the past about his behavior but no one in the
class supported him. Paul wanted to be
Micheal's friend but Jeff would be mad at him.

One day Jeff was at the playground and called Ana
names and picked on her.
Paul pushed Jeff to the ground and said, "Jeff you have
done enough!"
Sarah said, " Stop it! We are tired of you!"
Jeff got more angry at all of them for taking sides with
Ana. He ran from the playground and began to cry. He
was mad at himself for being mean all the time. Jeff ran
inside the school. He was sad. Jeff asked himself," why
am I like this? I need to stop. I am out of control! " Just
them Ana came and sat beside him on the bench outside
the office.

Ana tried to look at Jeff in the eye but he would
not look at her. The bell rang and everyone
went to class.

In class, no one spoke about what happened at
the playground. Jeff was very quiet. He did not
talk to Sarah or Paul. Paul tried to speak to Jeff
after school but only a little bit. He did not like
the way Jeff treated other kids and he was tired
of it. Sarah was not happy with Jeff either. It
upset her that Jeff was picking on Ana, a little
girl.

Jeff went home. His parents did not have a
good day either. When he got home, they were
arguing with each other. Jeff was angry because
he blamed his parents for his sad day at school.
He went to his parents and yelled, "Stop! I am
like this because of you! Why cant you be
happy? I want to be happy."
