Lucy has a problem.

Lucy is very lazy.

"Lucy! Clean up your dishes!

says Lucy's mom.

"I'll get to it...later."

replies Lucy.

The dishes pile up as day after day Lucy refuses to clean up her dishes.

"Lucy, help me work on our project."

says Lucy's friend Penelope at school a week later.

"I'll get to it...later."

replies Lucy.

DING!

"Lucy, the cupcakes we made are ready. Don't forget to take them out!"

warns Lucy's cousin Isabel the next day.

"I'll get to it...later."

replies Lucy.

BEEP

But Lucy never gets to it. Her to-do list grows...and grows...

and grows...and grows...and grows until it's three times as long as Lucy! But Lucy still does nothing on her to-do list.

Until finally it is Lucy's birthday. Lucy has been looking forward to her birthday for weeks!

When Lucy gets downstairs, she asks her parents

"Why aren't you getting ready for my birthday party?"

"We'll get to it...later."

they reply.

So Lucy calls her friend Penelope.

"Why aren't you coming over to help set up for my birthday party?"

asks Lucy.

"I'll get to it...later."

replies Penelope.

So Lucy marches across the street to her cousin Isabel's house.

"It's my birthday! Why aren't you coming over?"

demands Lucy.

"I'll get to it...later."

replies Isabel.
