Roma is not only a worldwide historical city, but it contains some of the worlds oldest and most amazing sites. While the average Joe might typically spend at least 5 days in Roma, I’m here to tell you how you can complete it in only 2 days. Roma makes for the perfect weekend – as long as you can see past the thousands of tourists and (if traveling in the summer) the blazing sun.

Roma is a relatively small city, everything within walking distance. However, according to Lon Beverage (Italy resident and frequent visitor of Roma) stated that “it’s best to divide the city in half to make sure you hit all of the major sites”. The major sites that are capable in day one are: the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish steps. Day two is the other half of the city which would consist of: St. Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel, the Vatican Museums, and Campo di Fiori.

Step 1: Now that we have the sights planned the first thing you need to make sure to do is check the weather. If you are traveling in the summer months (May-August) it is going to be HOT. Make sure you pack appropriately and comfortably! You will be doing A LOT of walking so comfy shoes are a must. Pack lots of water and sunscreen as well!

10
Step 2: Find a place to stay. The best part of spending such a short amount of time is that you only need to stay 1 night. Hotels in Rome according to Expedia will run you around $150-$200 for a 3-4 star hotel per night. A 5 star will cost you around $300 a night. However, Lon Beverage suggests using AirBnB rather than hotels if traveling with 4 or more people. To rent out an entire AirBnB apartment for a night will cost you around $25 per person.
11
Step 3: Check in and begin your trip! You want to make sure to get an early start to your days to try and beat the tourists and the heat. An ideal and convenient day 1 would be set up like this:
9:00am – Colosseum (touring the Colosseum and going inside will cost about 20 euro per person)
10:30am – Pantheon (this is a free attraction for all and has a free audio tour in multiple languages inside)
11:30am – the Trevi Fountain (this is also a free site…unless you would like to throw some Euro coins into the fountain, and let’s be real, you’re going to want to do that)
12
12:30pm – Lunch Break! (There are several restaurants surrounding the Trevi Fountain that are average cost. A typical lunch in Roma will cost you about 20 euro per person if ordering Antipasti and wine/beer).
2:00pm – Spanish steps (on your way to the Spanish steps be sure to make your way down via Condotti similar to 5th Ave. in Manhattan, New York – Yay window shopping!)
3:00pm – Make your way back to your apartment for a nap and getting ready for dinner.
6:00pm – Dinner (I didn’t have a bad meal my entire stay in Roma, any restaurant will do)

Day 2 Itinerary:
11:00am – Make your way to the Vatican to see St. Peter’s Basillica
12:00pm – Go in the Vatican to see the museums and the Sistine Chapel (warning: the Sistine Chapel takes a while to get through – lots of walking and lots of tourists).
2:00pm – Lunch break in Trastevere (make sure you explore the area while you are here)
4:00pm – Campo di Fiori
5:00pm – Head back to get ready for dinner
6:00pm – Dinner time!
Roma is definitely one for the books! I hope you enjoy your stay in this wonderful city!

Math Tasks
These math tasks were created to target 1st grade level students. These problems directly relate to my story by revolving around a trip in Roma. These problems relate to the sites mentioned in the story. Problems include: addition, subtraction, and measurement.

Problem 1:
You and your family are walking from the Pantheon to the Trevi Fountain. Your GPS says it will take 15 minutes to get there. After walking for a little while, the GPS says you will be at the fountain in 9 minutes. How long have you been walking? Please show/explain your understanding.
