There once was a cat and a rabbit. The cat had lots of money while the rabbit only had a small amount of money. Because the cat was rich, she didn't worry about saving her money, and it never crossed her mind to invest it wisely.
2
The rabbit, however, understood the value of his money. Despite being poor compared to the cat, he made an effort to be careful with his money.
3
One day, the rabbit said to the cat, "You always have such nice things. How do you get them?" The cat responded by saying, "I buy them, silly. Whenever I see something I want, I get it. Why don't you try it?" The rabbit thought for a moment. Why didn't he try it? He would enjoy having luxurious things. "I don't buy things impulsively," the rabbit eventually said, "because I choose to invest the little money I do have."
4
Invest it? The cat had never thought of such a thing! "What do you invest in? Why would you want to give the little bit of spare money you have to someone else?" asked the cat quizzically.
5
"I'm glad you asked," exclaimed the rabbit. "I invest my money in hopes of getting more back in return. I buy stocks from various companies when the prices are low. Then, I keep up with my stocks to see how much money I've earned or lost at a given time."
6
"So you can lose money from your investments? Isn't that risky?" "Yes, there is certainly risk involved. However, the more risky the investment, the bigger the reward. When an investment is particularly risky, such as with a junk bond, the return is much greater than with a less risky investment like a U.S. Treasury bill."
