Welcome to the
TOWN OF MANSURA

Once upon a time in the small town of Mansura, Louisiana, a beautiful bouncing baby boy was born. He was a happy and healthy baby, full of life and energy and he brought so much joy to everyone around him. His parents knew just how special he really was so they gave him a very special name... DELAS.

His name was as original as he was. His mother and father were very proud parents. They had other children but DeLas was one of a kind and they knew that he would grow up and live up to his name. He would be full of life and energy; and loving and outgoing, friendly and sociable and just a natural born leader.

One day when he was only a few months old, DeLas suddenly became very sick. His mother took him to the hospital and there the doctors found out that he had a bad heart. They told her that he would probably never walk or talk like other children. His mother was sad at what the doctors had said but DeLas was a strong baby! It was as though he knew he had to fight for his own little life...and he did!!

One night as DeLas slept in his crib, God looked down from Heaven and smiled on him and said, "For I know the plans that I have for you. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."

Then God with His mighty hand reached down from Heaven and took away DeLas' bad heart and replaced it with a HEART OF GOLD!!!
Then He whispered to him and said....
"SHINE MY CHILD, SHINE!"

AND HE DID!!!!!
His new heart shined with so much radiance!
Every day DeLas grew stronger and every day he thrived! Everyone was astonished at his progress and even the doctors were amazed at his milestones and accomplishments. There was a glow and warmth about him. Wherever there was darkness, he brought light. Wherever there was sadness, he brought joy. Wherever there was hate, he brought
love! Wherever he went, the boy with the Golden Heart....SHINED!!

Then as "De" (as he was affectionately called) got older, his Golden Heart still shined bright and his smile beamed just as bright...if not brighter!
Children looked up to him and respected him. The elderly admired him and people everywhere were touched by his love and his acts of kindness.
Everywhere he went, people and places were impacted by him and his Golden Heart.

DeLas made a positive impact in our community
and for that.....WE ALL THANK HIM!!!!!

Teachers, preachers, doctors, lawyers, judges, police officers and business owners all loved him. He visited the elderly, he mentored children, he founded a youth organization called Club Vision and he created and hosted community events. DeLas even served as a city councilman for the Town of Mansura. Every day he lived his life making this world better and brighter!
One special event that brought everyone together
was his "Annual Family and Friends Day Celebration" in Mansura, Louisiana. Oh what fun that was!!!
