This book is a biography about Susanna Dickinson. She was one of the only survivors at the Battle of the Alamo.

Howdy! My name is Susanna. I am going to tell you a little bit about myself. In 1814 I was born in Williamson County, Tennessee. When I was 15 years old, I met and married Almaron Dickinson.
Two years later, Almaron and I moved to Texas.
This is where it all started...
This is a picture of our marriage bond.
In 1834, we moved near the east bank of the San Marcos River where Almaron went into the hat business with his friend, George C. Kimble.
On December 14, 1834, our beloved child Angelina Elizabeth was born.

Angelina Elizabeth Dickinson
In the fall of 1835 the Texas Revolution began, which meant my husband went off to fight in the war. While Almaron was defending San Antonio alongside General Edward Burleson, Angelina and I stayed home.
A few weeks after the Battle of Gonzalez, my home was looted by members of an East Texas militia company, leaving me no choice but to take my baby and join my husband in San Antonio.
When we first arrived, Ramón Músquiz let us stay in her home. There, we met a peculiar man named Davy Crockett. Angelina loved his raccoon hat that he would wear, and always wanted to pet it.
After Mexican troops arrived in San Antonio in February of 1836, Almaron moved Angelina and I into the Alamo.
