Kitty

Once there was a little girl named Jane. She

had a very best friend who did everything with

her. They had been together as long as Jane

could remember. Everyone knew they were

inseparable. And it didn't even matter that her

best friend was...

a stuffed animal named Kitty!!

Jane got Kitty when she was an itty bitty baby.

Jane taught Kitty to do lots of things like crawl,

how to use the potty,



how to go

down slides,

how to

swing,

how to tie shoes,

how to ride a bike,

AND how to color,

One day when Jane was five, her mother told her that

she was going to start Kindergarten. But cats weren't

allowed so Kitty would have to stay home. Jane was very sad and did NOT want to go to school! She did not want to make new friends.

But her mom made her go, alone, without Kitty.

And it was AWFUL!

Jane did not make any new friends on her first day. She just watched the other kids play. No one would be as good as Kitty.

When Jane came home from school that day her older brother Riley had an idea. He suggested putting kitty secretly in her backpack. That idea made Jane very happy. Maybe school wouldn't be so bad after all!
