You will learn about 9 of the human body systems in this book. These nine different systems are the basics of how the human body works and what it entails. Included is the major human organs and systems in relation to the system. You will learn three of the most common diseases present in the body system being discussed and how to handle those diseases.
The human body system includes the digestive, muscular, skeletal, nervous, cardiovascular, sensory, endocrine, urinary, and lymphatic systems.
Major organs are: heart, pancreas, stomach, liver, gallbladder, lungs, skin, blood vessels, spleen, kidneys, thyroid, brain and spinal cord.
There are many diseases and disorders that are common in the human body and its corresponding systems. Everyone is different and has their own traits. In the following chapters, there are the top three most common diseases an issues with that particular body system. Included is special treatment and prevention. Some diseases that are common in the following body systems could potentially happen to you. If you read through the preventions and treatments, hopefully it will help you know how to treat your body systems and what to do in order to stay healthy.
DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
The digestive system lengths from your mouth through your esophagus into your stomach and intestines to your recum. Carries waste out of the body.
Major organs are the stomach, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, large intestine, and small intestine.
Digestive system mainly works with the circulatory, muscular, and nervous systems.
You can maintain a healthy system by eating healthy foods and getting plenty of exercise. Take medications if necessary and drink plenty of fluids.
Common disorders of the digestive system:
Chest pain/ GERD- To treat GERD you can take over the counter medications for heartburn and keep your head above your stomach. To prevent, eat nonacidic foods and take medication with your food to help the heartburn.
Gallstones- To treat gallstones, a change in diet is often a good solution, but if they are very common, people can remove their gallbladder altogether. This solution is more permanent though. Prevention of gallstones includes eating fiber in fruits and vegetables.
Celiac disease- To treat celiacs disease, diet modifications are helpful. Many people have seen a great improvement when they switch to a gluten free diet. Limiting foods that have a lot of gluten helps prevent celiac disease.

SKELETAL SYSTEM
The skeletal system is a very important body system. Without it, the body would have no structure and no movement capabilities. There are 206 bones in the adult human body.
There are no major organs in the skeletal system. It solely consists of bones.
The skeletal system works with the muscular and circulatory system mostly. In bones, there is bone marrow that makes blood cells that travel through the body. Also, the nervous system is closely related with the skeletal system because bones, such as the skull and spinal bones, are there to protect different parts of the nervous system.(Brain and spinal cord)
You can maintain a healthy skeletal system by getting plenty of calcium and other vitamins though your daily food intake.
Common disorders of the skeletal system:
Arthritis-Arthritis is very common amongst older people in their wrists and other commonly used joints. Eating healthy and some exercise is helpful. It is hard to prevent if you actively use your joints repeatedly. Medications, physical therapy and stretching your achy joints is the only ways to lessen arthritis.
Osteoporosis- Osteoporosis is the weakening of bones. This too is common when you get older and your bones are getting weaker. If you take vitamins and eat healthy foods, your bones will stay strong for longer. Medications and exercise are often a good source of treatment.
Bone Cancer-Just like other cancers bone cancer is very serious and has to be treated aggressively. Many treatments include radiation, surgery, and chemotherapy. No doctor has found a specific cause of bone cancer, therefore it is not preventable. It is genetic and you can be tested for cancers, but there is no way to prevent it completely.

NERVOUS SYSTEM
The nervous system includes all the tiny nerves throughout your body that receive and send signals to and from your brain. They work with your muscles and send messages to perform certain tasks and tell your brain what your are feeling.
Organs in your nervous system are you brain, spinal cord, and skin.
Your nervous system works in relation to your muscular and sensory systems. Your brain tells your muscles what to do through nerves, and your nerves tell your brain feelings through senses.
You can maintain a healthy nervous system by keeping your brain and spinal cord safe and have a healthy weight and diet.
Common disorders of the nervous system:
Meningitis-An infection that causes your brain and/or spinal cord to be swollen is called meningitis. It is easily prevented by getting necessary vaccinations. It is treated with medications such as antibiotics/steroids, and oxygen therapy when needed.
Polio-If you have poio, your spinal cord tissue is being destroyed by a virus. Polio is also easily prevented by getting vaccinated. It is a disease that often leads to paralysis if not treated quickly enough. It is incurable, but pain relievers, medications, and rest are helpful treatment.
Carpal tunnel-Prevented by exercising and stretching. Treatment for carpal tunnel includes resting, splints, ice, and surgery on special occasions.

CARDIOVASCULAR SYSTEM
The cardiovascular system is very important because it consists of your heart, veins, and arteries. Without those you would have no blood flow to any of your body, with is vital for life.
The only organ in this system is your heart. It pumps blood to all of your body to keep circulation.
Interacting systems include your respiratory and muscular systems. They require blood to go to and from the heart.
You can maintain a healthy heart by eating healthy, getting plenty of exercise, eating little amounts of sodium.
Common disorders of the cardiovascular system:
Heart attack- Heart attacks are fairly common and are quite preventable and treatable. If you eat healthy, don't smoke, exercise regularly and maintain a healthy weight, you are prone to heart attacks. They're treated with medications and diet modifications.
Heart failure- Common treatment includes a pacemaker or defibrillator, or diet modifications. To reduce the risk of heart failure eat healthy and get a good amount of exercise.
Abonormal arrhythmias- The heart has a certain rhythm it is supposed to continue, if that rhythm gets off by a lot, it is very hazardous to your health. Hospitalization is usually necessary and surgery is a common solution along with medications.

MUSCULAR SYSTEM
The muscular system performs all of your movements and plays a huge role in the body. It is responsible for correct functions by receiving signals from the brain by nerves. This allows your body to move and perform all of your daily tasks.
There aren't any major organs, this system is just made of muscles.
Interacting systems include the circulatory system, the nervous system, and the skeletal system. They all work together to get information from your brain to your muscles to make them move.
To keep healthy muscular system, make sure to exercise and drink plenty of fluids. Eating healthy and staying healthy overall is good to keep you muscular system in shape.
Common disorders of the muscular system:
Tendinosis-Medication ad rest will help your muscles heal if you have tendinosis. You should avoid activities in which you overuse your tendons and keep them under as little stress as possible.
Fibromyalgia- Fibromyalgia is the tenderness and overall pain of muscles, and is not preventable. There are some treatments, such as medication and stress reduction. It is a disease you can acquire in your later years, which can be very painful.
Muscular dystrophy- This is the deterioration of muscles, which weakens your body overall. There is no prevention for muscular dystrophy, but there is medication and therapy to help treat it.

SENSORY SYSTEM
In the sensory system, you use your body features to help you smell, hear, taste, see, and feel what is around you. Your senses are mental and has to do with your brain.
Organs in your sensory include your brain, but also includes your eyes, skin, ears, tongue, and nose. These organs give signals to our brain that register and make you feel different things.
Interacting systems include the muscular and nervous systems. They send and receive signals through nerves to the brain.
To keep healthy senses, make sure to be cautious when using your senses and don't overuse them.
